A “Call” for Clean Air

The Clean Power Coalition has a current goal of giving Midwest Generation (the company who owns Fisk and Crawford in Chicago) and Edison International (Midwest Gen’s parent company) 40 calls a day. The purpose of this is to continue pressuring them to close Fisk and Crawford coal plants down for good. We are so close to a victory and students have lead the way. Lets do it again by having students make the most calls over the next week! Here are the numbers and some sample scripts:

Edison Intl. (626) 302-2222

“Hello, my name is _______, and I live in (neighborhood, Chicago). Every day I breathe the toxic pollution from the Fisk and Crawford coal plants owned by your company in Chicago. (If you’ve been personally affected by the coal plants, please talk about that). I want Edison to commit to setting a retirement date for the Fisk and Crawford coal plants by the end of the year, and work with our community to be a responsible corporate player by investing in clean, renewable energy. I deserve the right to breathe clean air.”

Midwest Gen. (312) 583-6000

“Hello, my name is _______, and I live in (neighborhood, Chicago). I was calling because I’m really concerned about the pollution that is coming from the Fisk and Crawford coal plants. I’m sick of breathing the toxic air from the pollution. (If you’ve been personally affected by the coal plants, please talk about that). I want Midwest Generation to set a retirement date for the Fisk and Crawford coal plants by the end of the year, and work with our community to be a responsible corporate player by investing in clean, renewable energy. I deserve the right to breathe clean air.”
